OMG the Pepsi just went up my nose because of that! ^

I see what you're saying jimrpa, we had friends over for the Balloon Fiesta and I totally forgot to tell one of them that I keep the extra ammo and a shotgun under the bed in the guest room. Everything was fine for the first week...That is until he saw the cases when he dropped something on the floor and it bounced under the bed. I had to move them into another room and he was still a little agitated for the last 2 days he was in town.

I particularly enjoy contracted carriers for military deployments. The flight attendants tell us how to store our rifles under the seat in front of us! I don't remember if we could store them in the overhead bin or not though...

The Delta information is absolutely right. For additional airline information, you may want to visit packing.org . . .

Have a great hunt in SD.

Yeah, I recall my wife's one and only close encounter with firearms. A friend had a rifle with some Chinese writing on it that he wanted translated. She was willing to look (and it required looking closely, the writing was simply stamped into the metal. Add to this that her normal reading range is something like 6"--I've never been able able to get her to get reading glasses so she can read at a more normal range.) but she was utterly unwilling to touch it. The whole time she had her hands behind her back trying to give him directions on exactly how to hold the rifle so she could see it. She was unwilling to accept our assurances it was safe (the bolt was obviously open.)

A fascinating discussion about whether this is accurate or not is to be had ... elsewhere!

I found this on the Remington site
If during the screening process a screener detects something unusual or needs to open the gun case, they will work with the airline's representatives to contact you so that you can provide the key or combination. Be sure to pay special attention to PA announcements in the airport to avoid any necessary delays. Again, always remain polite and courteous during the process. Act like a jerk, and you'll most likely be treated like a jerk.
