Just came back from dropping off the wife at ACY.Terminal looked out of control. Seems the TSA was opening EVERY bag in front of the passenger and taking things out and swabbing the hell out of articles in the bags.I saw one swabbing 2 pair of shoes......You should have seen the look on one TSA agent's face when he pulled out a foil pack that looked like it had a "pop tart" in it. He swapped it to death, LOL. Since at ACY you carry the bags to the TSA and wait for a quick swab, this was highly irregular. The line was looping around like a "U" in the terminal, and I am sure that some people were getting nervous because this was not SOP. What do you think was going on. The failed bomb tests causing this? I'm flying out Fri.Wonder what that will bring?

Perhaps the CTX machine was broken?

Sounds like what I see at airports that don't have the CTX-type machines. For those full bags, I hope the TSA can shut the things back with all their belongings -- and no one else's -- and doesn't zip/shut the bag in a way that belongings were damaged. It's not a given, but it's the very least that should be.

Periodically you will see this at a small airport. No CTX machine and the if the FSD for whatever reason gets his shorts into a bunch he may just order all full bag searches.

I've read your past posts and you seem to be very decent and level headed person.ACY isn't the biggest airport, but they get extremely busy. They always used to swab the luggage right there in front of you and put it on the belt to load into the plane.Not sure if there is a CTX back there.But they were going through everyone's luggage, I mean,everybody- quite a sight really. And all of a sudden, maybe they saw that some people were not going to make their flights, they started swabbing and moving everyone along quicker.Or, if it is like you said, maybe the machine if they have one, cleared its backlog.
