Minor inconsistency but ...

For the past many many months, the person working the metal detector (at all airports I've been through) has insisted on seeing the boarding pass that I had just shown the screener and had been so marked.

Yesterday, at Boise, the guy could not have cared less? I thought the purpose of having TSA was to standardize these things?

Inconsistencies aren't anything new. It's just like the TSA agents who are more or less careful about the shoe policy.

Took a few flights SNA to Phoenix and back since the first of the year, no rechecking done at metal detector, same w/ SNA to Salt Lake last week ,no recheck.Surprised at Salt Lake with a check at detector even though it is only 10 steps from the person who just checked my bding. pass.So I found recheck odd not normal. Just put ID and pass away in those 10 steps.

It depends on the aiport and you have no way of knowing. The difference is that some airports have dedicated lanes for screening SSSS and some do not. If you go through an airport that has no dedicated lanes then the BP will be checked multiple times as you noted. If you go to one that has a dedicated lane, the BP is checked once and you are on your way.

At LAX they checked BP at the bottom of the escalator at T2 and then it wasn't checked until we boarded the plane. No shoe carnival, no barkers, a semi pleasant experience.

Then at HNL and ITO 1 week ago. Check the BP before you enter the line for the checkpoint by airport person. Check the BP before you go through WTMD by TSA and immediately after you walk through. The last guy scribbles something on your BP to let someone know you are cleared. These are also the places that I had to take off my Keds at.
