Ssss
Well as the the name of the thread and my username implies I have been getting alot of SSSS on my boarding passes. I have just started flying alot and I don't make my returning flight plans until the last minute. I know this is part of the reason why I always get the dreaded SSSS on my boarding pass. My question is what can I do or how long will it take before I stop getting them? Also on a side note I pleased to be a new member of FT. I look forward to learning from all of you.

SSSS....welcome to FlyerTalk. And you're certainly welcome in this Forum especially with the handle you chose.
While you're waiting for some responses to your question, you might want to click on Search, then Advanced Search, type in SSSS and select the Travel Safety/Security Forum. You'll get back a whopping 350+ threads where your question or a variation of it has been discussed.
You're certainly not alone in being selected for the SSSS treatment. The exact reasons for the SSSS are not always evident.

Without trying to be harsh, if you continue to book your travel plans the way you have been, you will most likely never see the end of the SSSS, unless the criteria changes.
Even being with the TSA does not exclude me. I've gained the SSSS when travel, both for business and for pleasure. I'm sure that if youy search through the threads, you'll find the majority of the criteria involved. I don't know all the criteria, but I know that booking at the last minute and method of payment are 2 of the major ones. I'm not sure if there is a random SSSS anymore.
I try to pry the airlines to learn what makes a person SSSS, but they don't budge. I'm sure the frequent flyers here know more about the criteria than I can offer.

A System that Selects Screening Subjects based on the method of payment or whether or not it is a roundtrip or one-way (think old man with alzheimer's on his way to a nursing home to die -- not a round trip ticket) is pathetic. Printing the SSSS on their boarding pass, giving them advance notice is just stupid.
But as pointed out, there are over 350+ search results on this. No sense in commenting further.

It's well known that using cash to pay for a ticket will trigger the SSSS crap. What's to stop a "terrorist" from getting a pre-paid MasterCard debit card at the local 7-Eleven and using that to buy the ticket? That eliminates one criteria.
The idea that someone who uses cash must be a terrorist has got to be the most asinine ideas I've ever seen. There are plenty of people out there that would rather pay cash for things than use a credit card.
