Passport Pass Thur???

I heard from someone that if you use your passport to go thur security they can't stop you for SSSS because of what it says in the inside cover. So I dug out my passport and here is what it says

"THe Security of State of the United States of America hereby requests all whom it may concern to permit the citizen/national of the United States named herein to pass WITHOUT DELAY or HINDRANCE and in case of need to give all lawful aid and protection."

So accoring to the Secretary of State we are to "to pass WITHOUT DELAY or HINDRANCE"

I will have to try this on my next flight and use the passport as my ID.

Anyone have any info or insight?

I'd say what you heard was an urban legend (like not getting points on your license by overpaying a speeding ticket--fun story, but not true). If it wasn't, I'd expect Uncle Osama is already forging US passports for all his agents.

Definitely not true.

The language on the passport applies to international immigration checks.

The TSA runs internal, domestic checks. Your papers, comrade!

Actually, he does not. As the last created cabinet post, SHS ranks last in presidential succession, and is outranked by the SecState by 14 positions.

According to the Presidential Succession Act of 1947, if the President of the United States is incapacitated, dies, resigns, is for any reason unable to hold his office, or is removed from office (impeached and convicted), people in the following offices, in this order, will assume the office of the President, provided they are qualified as stated by the Constitution to assume the office of the President, which means they have to be must be at least 35 years old, must be a natural-born U.S. citizen, and have lived in the U.S. for at least 14 years.

Vice President
Speaker of the House
President Pro Tempore of the Senate
Secretary of State
Secretary of the Treasury
Secretary of Defense
Attorney General
Secretary of the Interior
Secretary of Agriculture
Secretary of Commerce
Secretary of Labor
Secretary of Health and Human Services
Secretary of Housing and Urban Development
Secretary of Transportation
Secretary of Energy
Secretary of Education
Secretary of Veterans Affairs
Secretary of Homeland Security

The 25th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution, passed in 1967, provides for procedures to fill vacancies in the Vice Presidency; further clarifies presidential succession rules.

Key word: requests. The statement carries no legal mandate whatsoever, inside the United States or outside. The Secretary of State could also request for you an upgrade to F and a day pass to the World Club...it doesn't mean you're going to get it.
