And thank you for your own service to our country.

Now on with the spirited debate folks.
What "service to our country?" Was Mr. Arsenault in the military or something?

"You people" as in people who tend to inject personal attacks and engage in TSA-bashing instead of engaging in civil discourse. Not "you people" as in all passengers or everyone who uses this forum. I should have been clearer in my original post. My apologies.

What was that one about stones and glass houses?
If you feel that I engage in personal attacks and bash the TSA at every turn you're certainly free to express that opinion.

Blindly and irrationally defending something that is clearly wrong will never make it right.
I'm not "blindly and irrationally defending" anything to do with the TSA. Anyone who reads my editorials and message board posts on my web site knows where I stand on various issues concerning the TSA. I am anything but an "apologist" or TSA banner-waver, believe me.

At the same time I aslo don't accept the assertions by some folks who accuse all screeners of being "perverts" or "child molesters" or that any legal, properly conducted pat-down search somehow constitutes "molestation" or "rape" or even "groping."

My opinions are my own and I call 'em as I see 'em. Sometimes I agree with passengers. Sometimes I agree with screeners. Sometimes I agree with both, and sometimes I agree with neither. It depends on the topic, my own experience and training, and my assessment of the arguments that each posits.

To be honest, I see myself as about as "objective" about TSA-related topics as one can be, since I've ben on both sides of the fence and have experiences in both security/LE and as a frequent flyer. <shrug> Not everyone will agree, and that's cool, too.

My main concern is that discussions happen as civilly as possible. If I had my druthers, no one would use the term "you" or "you people" at all in discussions (and yes, I'm guilty of it myself). It sets up an unnecessary barrier to communication.

Anyway, there it is...

Just FYI, a link to my bio is available on the FAQ page of my site.

This appears to be another one of those threads that have wandered way off-track.
Since there has been no recent commentary on TSA at SMF, I'm going to lock this thread so we can focus on the other active issues in this Forum.
