Minnesota Star Tribune Editorials (reg required)
"I worked at a job that required frequent air travel. After many poor experiences with the pat-down, including one rather intimate one, I began to use vacation days for travel and started to drive to my destination. I retired early nearly a year ago, partly because of the issues that I took with the airport pat-downs.
After the last pat-down, I told my supervisor that if my husband had touched me in a similar fashion that morning, I would not have made the plane. I felt humiliated and pawed. Combine that with losing sight of my carry-on bag and purse (ticket, ID, medication, etc.) and then having to remove my shoes (I have arthritis and have a difficult time bending to remove or replace shoes), I decided that flying was not for me.
No job was worth the hassle and humiliation."
And several other editorials appear on this page. What a disgusting manner to treat the traveling public.
THANK you, Admiral Stone. Thank you and the horse you rode in on.

I don't know whether to be thankful that women across the country agree with me that this "procedure" is truly grotesque, or horrified that so many women have endured these shameful violations.
There are five very brief letters posted, all from women who are shocked and angry. The most striking commonality: three of the five letters use the exact same word to describe the experience: "humiliating".
Humiliate women at your peril, TSA. We will have the last word in the court of public opinion.
