Organize

Recently, Stimpy started a thread about having a demonstration inside security at an airport as a response to an appeals court ruling. While that ruling wasn't really applicable to airport security checkpoints, it got me thinking.

Most of us who are passionate about this issue have already written to TSA management, our Congressional representatives, senators etc. Unfortunately, correspondence from individuals does not have very much of an impact (unless you have serious juice). What do you think about trying to organize into something of a lobby or if that is too ambitious we could at least start a database of those who want change (in order to do email campaigns etc.). With Randy's help (if he was willing of course), we may even be able to get some airline interest. Thoughts?

If I can help in any way please let me know.

There was a thread recently about taking action intead of just talking or something like that. While I didn't read that particular thread, its title got me thinking about activism where the TSA is concerned.

All that to say, count me in.

Perhaps we should start a website, similar to Bill Scannell's very widely recognized site http://www.dontspyon.us

Maybe we should call it http://www.dontgrope.us
www.dontmolest.us
www.dontstripsearch.us

The site could include action items: places to write letters, lawsuits to join; a press release collection detailing the abuses happening at airports; a panel of frequent travelers willing to be interviewed about our bad experiences with the TSA. A good start would be to try to post a personal statement from the San Diego woman who stood up for herself and her body and paid the price of driving home.

So what is a concrete first step we can take? Obtain a domain and set up a site? Perhaps if we go that route we can all put it in the signatures of our posts (or was that feature disabled? - I don't use it)

Excellent plan!
It's time to get the word out. We need a consistent, level-headed message.

The airlines may be interested too. They're desperate for passengers and we're saying, "We're your best customers but we're going to drive."

Count me in.

Mats.
