Just because there hasn't been a case of an object being used doesn't make it less dangerous.

Confused. You call the administration of TSA myopic yet you only want items already used in the commission of a terrorist act to be looked at? I would call that myopic.

It isn't THAT much of an inconvienience to take it out and have them check it. I mean, its not like they require you turn it on and such. I suppose the point I am trying to make is that it could and may be a lot worse.

Been there, done that

Prior to TSA, requirement used to be that you had to boot up your computer.

You make it sound like doing one will prevent the other and that is not at all true. If the TSA can't find (detect) the weapon on the x-ray, it's either 1)not a credible weapon or 2)not going to turn up in a random bag search, either.

And I'd really like to know what "weapon" is going to be smuggled onto a plane through the checkpoint that would cause the loss of "a hundred thousand Americans". That's 100,000 Americans for those of you doing the math.
