Do you think that...
these shoes would trigger would trigger a secondary? They are metal free, but the sole is not as thin as the ones I wear now.

Questionable. The soles might appear to be more than 1" thick, which is the criteria for secondary even in the absence of a WTMD alarm. And of course, at shoe carnival airports you will invariably be punished for disobedience if you don't give in to the order to remove your shoes.
