Checked bag from SJD to EWR

Is it possible to have a checked bag sent from SJD to EWR with a connection in IAH without reclaiming bag?
I have a fairly tight connection in IAH and would like to check my bag in SJD having it sent directly to EWR so I can just report directly to my next flight.
Yes, I have Global Entry.
Thank you!

Speaking as someone who had to stay overnight in Houston while returning to CMH through IAH from Cancun because of a missed connection caused by a delay in clearing customs in IAH ... I don't think you can do what you want to do.

You will process through both immigration and customs at the FIS at IAH. Your bag will nonetheless be tagged through to EWR so all you will need to do is drop it after Customs.

Checked bag from SJD to EWR

So let me get this right- even though I have Global Entry and would like my bag checked through to EWR, I would need to reclaim it in IAH and then recheck it?
I was hoping I could check it through to EWR while in SJD and not touch it until it arrives in Newark, thus saving time at IAH and stopping by the United Club for a while,
Thanks!

That is correct. You must reclaim your luggage and pass through customs with it at the first point of entry to the US, in your case at IAH. If heading to a US destination, there is no way to skip the baggage reclaim, customs, recheck process (other than not checking a bag at all). Global Entry will get you a faster line, but won't allow you to skip the process altogether.

Update...due to Global Entry, we processed quickly, officer gave detailed rundown of what to do next. Claimed bag, dropped of at United bag drop, went through TSA checkpoint (no PreCheck line), had 20 minute visit to UA Club, gate E10 just steps away. Boarded UA1933, then waited 40 minutes "due to late inbound aircraft", despite being seated on craft and Captain announcing delay was due to a "baggage issue".
Most of all- thanks to all for your previous responses! Trip was otherwise great.
