Any recent experiences with new passport applications? Wife recently renewed hers and received it in about 3 weeks. Submitted new passport applications for our minor children at the same time (June 6) and still waiting on them after 7+ weeks. No further info other than "still processing" per the website and the unhelpful lady on the phone.
Could there be any special issues with the kids' passport applications, such as a divorce or adoption?

I sent in a passport renewal on June 2, 2015 via USPS. Arrived at Passport office on June 4. Did not request any special handling.
I received my new passport on July 9 (with July 7 as the start date of the passport). I received my old passport about 5 days later.
Took 37 days (5 weeks, 2 days) from day I mailed in the old passport, with the application, until the new one arrived.
