Donuts in hand baggage

Please don't laugh, this is a serious post.

Further to my recent business trip from LHR to BRU, there is a requirement for me to bring donuts to Brussels next time. I was thinking Krispy Kreme.

Will they allow them through security or will I need to check them in? (T5)

I do it all the time. In PDX, when I'm taking Voodoo Donuts back home, TSA even jokes that the machines "eat" the jelly-filled ones.

Is it sad I too have brought voodoo thru TSA in PDX? Or worse the TSA wanted them

Quite honestly you should check them in anyway. They might go stale in the plane cabin itself without some sort of cooling to keep them from going bad.

You could always try for a pizza carrier that they use for Pizza Hut and Domino in the States. Buy one off eBay or somewhere might sell them in wholesalers. Insulated and nice for large volume of boxes. Throw in a couple cooling packs perhaps?

Correct - any fillings would show up.

I think the UK is the only place in Europe you can get them.

It was our American colleagues who were first given this task. However, it was not feasible for our them to bring donuts on a long haul flight (they perish very quickly).

Therefore, we opted for an American brand that was available somewhere in Europe, and thus it was narrowed down to Krispy Kreme.

I ended up with the job of procuring the comestibles and organising logistics.

Just a comment - owing to crazy sugar overload and filling, Voodoo Donuts actually do keep much longer than Krispy Kremes or Dunkin Donuts.
