If the DL is stamped "Not valid for federal ID", then it is not Real ID compliant and the TSA cannot accept it for identification (as they are a federal agency).
Do you have a passport? Passports (both US and foreign) are acceptable IDs for TSA checkpoints.

TSA's website lists the following as acceptable IDs with regard to driver's licenses:
Nowhere on the list of acceptable IDs does it say that the Driver's License has to be Real-ID compliant. So I am curious as to where your info is coming from Dustman.
- DHS-designated enhanced driver's license
- U.S. driver's licenses or other state photo identity cards issued by Department of Motor Vehicles (or equivalent) for the sole purpose of identification.

Looking at DHS's website for Real ID, TSA will accept all DLs until 2016, at which point, they will only accept Real ID approved DLs.
So looks like they'll accept it for now, but there will come a time where they will stop accepting it (unless Real ID is repealed).
