Safe to connect through Cairo?

I'm set for an amazing trip to Asia but I am supposed to return from Bangkok through Cairo on July 31st. I though it would be easiest to change the return trip due to the political climate, however there are no other awards left at my rewards level (just spent 40 minutes on the phone with a very nice representative), and as this is an extensive trip, I've used all my miles.

How worried should I be worried about the current US State Dept travel warning when talking about just connecting through the Cairo Airport? We will literally be in Cairo for all of 2 hours, but I don't want to take unnecessary chances. I know there is a month until the return trip, so the situation could always change, but I also don't want to get stuck somewhere when my husband really needs to be back for work.

Political unrest usually doesn't affect airport operations. I wouldn't worry about it. Enjoy your trip.
