Smile Help: AMS Lost Baggage- inside secure area?

My wife left a handbag on airplane a week ago, and AMS lost and found has located it. I am passing back through Saturday (flying out TOMORROW) and have 2 hours between flights where I might be able to pick it up.

They said it's in the "basement between Arrivals 1 and 2". If I go to the Arrivals level, am I leaving the secure area and have to go back through security? Is 2 hours enough time to do so & get back in?

Since I am flying in 20 hours, any fast responses would be appreciated. Thanks.

You do have to leave the secure area - but unless you are connecting Schengen to Schengen this doesn't make any difference because you would always have to re-clear security anyway.

The one bit of extra queuing you have to allow for is for a passport check (or two, if you are connecting non-Schengen to non-Schengen)

And, probably stating the obvious... if it's your wife's handbag, and she is not with you, you will need to need to have a letter from her authorising you to collect her handbag.

I did the claim under my name, so I'm hoping that will be OK, but it would be good to have a letter, too, just in case.
