Global Entry Application Questions

I am a recent college graduate taking a job with LOADS of international travel. Having an internship last summer with frequent returns to the US, I saw how I could really benefit from GE, so I decided to apply once I got my job.

As of a few days ago, I signed for my job, and thus have finished my application but I have one error, argh!

The error refers to my previous employment history and the gaps in between dates. The problem is, these were summer jobs (i.e. Start in June, End in August, back to school in September) so naturally I will have gaps in my employment history.

Has anyone encountered this, and do they know how to fix this error? I am leaving for my first Trans-Atlantic tomorrow and would love to submit this app before I leave.

I'm thinking I could possibly fill in the gaps with filling in "student" and my college information, OR should I be selecting "student" as opposed to "employed" during each previous summer employment history?

Thanks for the help!

It's been a while since I applied for Global Entry. Are you saying that your application is being rejected because employment gaps are flagged as errors? That seems very odd given that, these days, the majority of Americans probably have gaps in their employment history. But if you're forced to account for every day of every year of employment, I'd identify the gaps as either "student" or "unemployed."

(Also, not sure if you realize this from your post, but after submitting your application, you'll be contacted to schedule an in-person interview. So unless your next trip is bringing you *to* the US for long enough to do your Global Entry interview, then Global Entry won't help you for your current trip.

Thanks for the reply. What I mean is those errors prevent the application from being submitted entirely. I will follow the post belows suggestion of marking them as student as opposed to "employed". They can ask me in the interview after with what exactly it means.

Sorry for the slow response. Been traveling and had a hell of a day with delta the past 36 hours

This is a routine issue for many people. Simply consider that "full-time student" is your job during those periods. So:

Feb. 2012 - Present: CEO of XXX

Sep. 2011 - Jan 2012 - Full-time student

May 2011 - Aug 2011 - EVP of YYY

That way you will have accounted for your time.
