Hi.
I'm planning to travel from NYC area to Key West, FL in July. Some flights connect through FLL which has all BKSX machines. I have children and don't want them using BKSX. I cannot find the location of the FLL security checkpoints and don't know if one needs to go through security to get to a connecting flight. Does anyone know where I can find this information?
Thanks.

If you're connecting, I don't think you'll need to go through security again. Infact, I've seen several locations now where if infants/toddlers are traveling, they automatically get the "opt out" lane.

Check this link to see where your connecting airlines and flights are. If they are within the same terminal, you won't have any issues. If, for some reason, you have to connect to an airline in a different terminal, it looks like you will have to clear security again. Someone correct me if I'm wrong. I've only been in there a couple of times.
And yes, their website it terrible.

Thanks.
It would be United->United Express and reverse on the way back. So it looks okay. I'm just concerned that the United Express plane, being tiny, might be relocated to another terminal. I think I'll just bypass FLL. It's too nerve wracking. So that's an extra $120 pp for 4 people so we won't be x-rayed.

Same is true for NYC departure. OP & family may well be directed to a lane with a machine they don't like. If so, they can opt out there too. Pax don't get to choose their machine and there's an easy solution.

Even if OP must for some reason be rescreened at FLL, no reason OP & family can't opt out.

There have been many discussions regarding what individuals feel is more invasive and for me the pat-down is WAAAAY more invasive.
Thanks for everyone's help.

to the OP, you will 100% not have to go through security again at FLL. The Silver Airlines planes (UX) park at gates C5 and C8. United uses the majority of the rest of the C Concourse.
For reference for others using FLL, Concourse B was still safe as of March. The others usually have at least one lane open that the Backscatters are turned off.
But back on topic, you are 100% safe connecting UA-UX and vice versa at FLL.
