WTMD compatible belt

Anyone know what to look for in a belt to ensure it won't set off the metal detector? Non-magnetic materials? Does anyone like maybe Tumi sell a line for this purpose?

Obviously a plastic buckle would work, but I'm looking for something more appropriate for dress clothes.

My experience has been hit and miss in the past; the same belt would set off some locations but not others. With Trusted Traveller/PreCheck rolling out I'm willing to buy a new belt to make sure it never happens.

Also if you google

travel friendly belt

you will find quite a few vendors selling everything from nylon mesh cargo belts to pretty nice looking dress belts

Tom Bihn makes a wonderful, made in the USA, travel belt with a bonus--a secret pouch for money and papers inside.

One warning, though: I came across Tom Bihn a few years ago and now own a couple dozen or so of his bags and pouches. You have been warned...

I found a wonderful nylon belt with a carbon-fiber buckle at REI last year. It's never once alarmed a WTMD, and if I fly with my shirt untucked, no one's ever noticed it. I have been chastised during pat-downs for leaving it on, though.

I appreciate the feedback, but none of this addresses my question.

I'm looking for a dress (leather) belt, not nylon mesh.

is there any point to a WTMD friendly belt any more? If the security check point has both a WTMD and some sort of "nude of scope" machine, they make you take any and all belts off no matter what.

I bought a belt from TJ Maxx some 5+ years ago. It has metal, but it never set off any WTMD

None of my belts has ever set off a metal detector. They are just standard belts from Abercrombie & Fitch, Nautica, etc.

When the TSOs see them, they insist I take them off; they never believe me that it won't be a problem. So, I usually walk through with my shirt untucked.

All belts have to be removed now. Another lack of rhyme & reason. Typical.

Same here, I usually tuck it in once I clear the 'theater' area
