Spent 23 years in the Navy. I don't have a tattoo or a piercing of any kind. Can't imagine the desire to do so.

The TSA responder never did answer if they have to view the item if it alarmed.

I, for one, nominate Blogger Bob to come spread the word here. I believe he would get a fair and balanced reception.

Mike

Of course he would! All TSA employees are treated in ways that are sensitive and respectful. A primary goal of FT is to treat all TSA employees with courtesy, dignity, and respect during conversations.

DHS: New airport security policy for kids under 12

According to this article, linked by Drudge,
Napolitano testified this morning that children under 12 will no longer need to take off their shoes, and that DHS will be "rolling out" a different pat-down for them.

Sorry if this has already been posted. I'm still trying to sort out these two sub-fora.

They had been piloting the new no shows off for kids rule at MCO. Not sure if it made the lines shorter but it did result in more yelling of instructions than before.

This should kept the shoes on and they are not going to required takeoff the shoes.

Leave the diapers on and no one ever asked someone to take off the diapers, period. Never! Leave the mother & child alone!

Different parts of RBS are rolling out at different times.

t325 Sep 14, 2011 7:11 am

Why 12? Does something happen to kids at 13 that suddenly turns them into little terrorists?

Why not do shoes on, RBS for everybody...

Please remember we're talking about TSA here not some organization which functions in a rational manner.

Does this mean I will get to keep my shoes on when traveling within the US? Because of course I already do when I travel to the US...

Personally, I have no idea how you are screened, nor do I actually care. :)

But yes, more parts of RBS are coming for many passengers.

You have asked this question multiple times over the last year. I have answered multiple times. Do you not remember?

Yes, their shoes get big enough to conceal more than 3.4 ounces of explosive.

Of course, along with everyone else, I remove my shoes and put them in the bin (unobstructed) or on the belt. Meanwhile, I always have a heavier pair of shoes inside my rollaboard surrounded by all my other gear. Never had a bag check when I had shoes in the bag.
