Ziploc bag, lacking security?

All,

I don't know if it is just me, but it has been quite a while (months) since I actually took out my ziploc bag to be placed in the bin. Has TSA gotten lax on this? Is it the airports? Or just my imagination.

For me, it has been over a year, actually close to two, and I flew 50+ times in the last 12 months.

There have been multiple threads about this. It is not new. TSO's do it to speed things up at the checkpoint.

WE've been told that no local TSA authority can modify screening procedures without clearance from HQ as in the HNL deal.

So are the TSA employees who are not following SOP being penalized for not doing correct screenings?

Taking the Ziploc out isn't required until a TSO decides that now it's required.

My guess is that my Pelican case full of electronics and a brick of 9V batteries gets them so hyped up that they may have found the next Richard Reid, that they just ignore my Kippie bag and go straight for the mother lode.

It's like a cycle. There's a thread about how you don't hae to take stuff out anymore. There's a thread a few weeks later about somebody who was delayed and almost missed their flight because they did not take out their bag and went to secondary. Than there is another thread a few weeks later about not having to remove your bag anymore. Than a few weeks later a thread about being harassed for not taking the bag out.
