Newark airport screeners targeted Mexicans

http://www.nj.com/news/index.ssf/201..._screener.html

A special unit of airport screeners, charged with detecting suspicious behavior, engaged in racial profiling so frequently at Newark Liberty International Airport that their resentful colleagues called them "Mexican hunters," according to an internal federal report.

Why am I unsurprised that this involved the SPOT/BDO program?

Why is it that misconduct by TSA employees from senior management and down happens so often?

One reason is the pool from which they've been drawn. Many are "ex-" --- ex-military, ex-LEO, ex-government worker, etc.

Why are they "ex-"? Most did not leave their previous positions at the top of their professions or through normal retirement channels. Draw your own conclusions.

This is pathetic. What the eff is up with Newark?

Of course, this is great news for any real terrorists, who would revel in the opportunity to walk on by while SPOT is busy poring over the passport pages of hapless Mexicans. I would also point out that the number of planes hijacked by Mexicans is also zero.

I am guessing this problem is not just confined to Newark.

Because there is no accountability.

Don't worry. They will be "retrained."

No worries, already done!

In a statement, the TSA acknowledged that its policies were "overstepped," but insisted that, "eighteen months ago, TSA took immediate remedial action and retrained the entire behavior detection workforce at Newark."

Just to make sure everyone noticed, the FSD at Newark who was responsible for this (along with all the other EWR nonsense) was promoted to a senior position at TSA HQ.

ACCOUNTABILITY

As Administrator Pistole said, "We hold our workforce to the highest ethical standards and will not tolerate employees who in any way compromise the security of the traveling public."

Except when we don't!

Let me get this straight....in order to be promoted to a senior position at TSA, you must be incompetent, stupid, a racist, harass innocent people, a liar, a thief, have an IQ no higher than 50 and a sexual groper????

That's the TSA's definition of "accountability"
