Are the airport police usually armed? Can/do they carry tasers?

Airports have a lot of square footage under roof. It doesn't make sense for LEOs to walk around with shotguns and ARs. So you pick an area that's easy to access (say, a checkpoint), and turn one of the closets into a weapons locker. That way, in the event something really terrible goes down, a responder can get properly armed/armored on the way to the scene.
If you think DEN is installing those to protect TSOs or enforce TSA mandate, your organization REALLY has delusions of grandeur.

This is news? Denver must be behind the times. We had weapons lockers within spitting distance of all of our checkpoints where I worked.

Are these lockers for weapons like 12 gauge shotguns and single shot AR-15s, or will they also have full-auto AR-15s? I wonder what the true effectiveness of having full auto firearms inside an airport terminal really is.

As long as the gun lockers aren't locked all will be well. If anybody is killed that will be prima facie evidence that the victim was a terrorist. We need more assault rifle, and they ought to be allowed on board also, to foil incipient terrorist and/or communist plots on board.

Yeah but at the sometime full auto in a confined space is dangerous as the possibility of collateral damage is high. It's spray in pray which in it's self is very close to how TSA operates with it's "when you have a hammer everything looks like a nail" policy.

Am I the only one that really understands what this means
Those lockers are there to make shopping more easy for the TSA agents. No more hoping a hapless pax brings a firearm threw they can 'confiscate' for their friend. Now they can pick and chose from an assortment of firearms.
