Just made it through security at North terminal. 2 Pornoscanners in use, only 1 X-ray line. Quickly went to that line. Smurf didn't even realize I had walked through the machine. Nobody opting out. Thought the smurfs trying to make friendly while we waited in line was a nice touch. When i first got in line xray wasnt open. Only when lines backed up did they open xray. I complained, loudly, in line that my only option was to be molested or radiated and got nasty looks from those standing around me. I was shocked! W.T.F is wrong with these people? How can anybody justify these intrusions into our personal being as rationally related or narrowly tailored to protect national security? I was more scared of those standing around me than the smurfs. Very sad day.

Smurfs were playing friendly at DTW North when I few through there last month, as well. But they were shipping everyone through MMW. I think they have something like six MMWs to two WTMDs there. There are two checkpoints, and both are mostly MMWs. If you're flying in or out of DTW, you're better off taking Delta out of the south terminal ... I think they still have some WTMD-only checkpoints.

That is very troubling indeed.

After researching the whole TSA issue here and elsewhere, I talked to many different people about it, both online and IRL (at work, not in an airport). Very few people were interested, and I often got the 'stare'.
