I must say that relying on a "newspaper" like the NY Post (which is really a tabloid) to have gotten details like that straight is not a good idea. I, too, believe he never got as far as the checkpoint and that it was an airline agent who wouldn't check him in.

People who've lost IDs fly quite regularly and the key is printing a boarding pass at home or at a kiosk.
