Remove french cuffs during security?

I guess I'll go contrary to the group (though I would also advocate not trading the shirts).

I've flown through DCA 2-3 times recently with cuff links and I've set off the WTMD each time. My belt is the only other thing that I go through the WTMD with that has metal (just a normal belt buckle). The last couple months I've either taken to wearing non-cuffed shirts or taking out the cuff links prior to entering security.

Going through WTMD at 15-20 different airports worldwide, Mr's metal cufflinks have (so far) never alarmed, regardless of type of metal... nor has his all-metal watch which he generally does not remove due to its expense...

YMMV...

Send him to YVR; the only place where my watch alarmed every time until I learned to take it off first.
