DFW: TSA terminal D

So I arrived internationally yesterday and made a connection to a domestic flight. That requires reclearing TSA at Terminal D.

First, if there's any doubt of the value of Global Entry, I breezed through - no one else using the kiosks, and there were at least 25 people in the crew line (what, crew members haven't sprung for GE, I'm surprised!). Customs was looking at passports at the exit where you hand in the GE receipt, but that took 5 seconds. No big deal.

In fact, it took me less time to get off the plane, clear customs and immigration, and get to the TSA line than it did to stand in the TSA line and clear TSA. Disgusting. Hey TSA: if DHS/CBP can do trusted traveler, SO CAN YOU!

At the checkpoint closest to Customs exit at Terminal D, TSA was using the strip-search machines. Two are installed, both were in operation. In the "premium" line, which was moving very slowly, the WTMD operator was directing everyone through strip-search, and at least 60% were being frisked too. On the non-premium side, the lines were moving faster, and they were being much more selective in who went through the strip-search. After the ID check, I self selected one of the x-rays on the non-premium side and managed to avoid the pervo-scan.

Walked from Terminal D over to C to catch my flight. Every other checkpoint I passed had the strip-search machines "not in use". One could draw the conclusion that TSA was targeting international inbound passengers.

Overall, very pleased with Global Entry. Not so with TSA.
