I'll probably be wearing only bike shorts going through my next screening though. I'd like to see the security justification for touching my junk when it's quite obviously all I have on me.

I've thought of taking to wearing a kilt as my regular travel attire. Next series of trips is not until may 2011... We shall see.

I wonder if it would be better to say you decided not to fly without giving a reason.

I was wondering what came out of this. Here is the article.

I own and wear several kilts - including bespoke wool, among others.

Stillwater Kilts has a number of "economical" kilts for sale that I'd recommend as appropriate for travel-wear.

Interesting how the photos have nothing to do with the "tips," and at one point the slideshow becomes simply juvenile--"forget pasties" is matched with a young woman whose hands-up position makes her breasts, um, prominent. Quality.

FWIW: I recently went through selectee screening, in kilt with metal-buckled belt.

No touching of any kind occurred. I did get wanded between the legs a bit but that was it.

How recently?

I ask because the wands have allegedly been retired in the US as of the end of October, when screening stepped up a gear.

This was by a couple variants of UA rent-a-TSOs in Germany, a few days ago.

FWIW I think wanding was the appropriate measure, given that I was wearing two pieces of metal (a non-nondescrutively-removable wristband and a necessary-to-hold-it-up kilt belt). I had no problem with it at all; it was quickly and correctly done.
