RSSrsvp - Moderator Thanks for the effort, but:

As much as we love Flytalk and appreciate your efforts, hijacking us over to deal with these folks is sometimes just a little too rude. Oh Well, Cheers, OPos. |

Hey RSSrsvp,
Thanks for the effort, but: Do you understand now why people might not want to have their threads started in or moved to this forum? |
I saw screeners in MLB one day last year doing this to any visible liquids carried onto the plane. I asked them about it between boarding zones and they said they were doing it primarily to try out the new liquid screening test. They said TSA eventually wants to allow liquids through the checkpoint again, so they've been trying it out at gate checks to make sure the liquid screening test works as expected and is simple enough for TSO' to use. They said they didn't expect to find anything, and weren't concerned with letting liquids not visible inside bags through untested.
Keep in mind, this info came from small-town TSO's, but it seemed like a reasonable explanation to me. |

Seeing the acronym TSO and the phrase "reasonable explanation" in the same sentence including a directly referencing connection caused my brain to shut down for a moment. :p
I've seen the screening clerks try and wave the magic strip over drinks at various airport mostly starting in January. While they have not selected me, I think I would just ignore them. Where's the threat, especially if the beverage I purchased was made air side? |

OK, so if this happens during my next airport visit, does anyone know if you can opt out?
Seriously, can you just say, "I opt out" and ask them to go bother someone else? Would that end in a body cavity search or LEO invervention? |

It was meant to come across as an attack on people who think that anyone who disagrees with them is ignorant, ill-informed, or un-American just because they hold a different opinion. My bad. I'll make the target of my rant more clear next time. Thanks! OPos. |
