Camel-pak as a carry on?

If I empty the bladder, can I take a camel-pak backpack as a carry on?

I do it all the time. I make sure the bladder and drinking tube are completely empty. I also pull the bladder out of the pack and roll it up, although I don't think it's really necessary.

I think you'll be OK. Based on the screeners I've observed, I don't think any of them need a Camel Pack for marathon training.

There is no need to remove the bladder from the backpack. As long as the bladder and tubing is empty, it is acceptable as a carry-on. No need though to go extreme and try to remove every drop.

{snicker} Sorry, I found that pretty funny. {snicker}
Count me in as a non-marathon type.

I took the bladder completely out of mine ever since it earned me a bagcheck. Even though it was empty, the x-ray operator thought it "looked like a jar of something".
