June 27th, 1980: Remembering Aerolinee Itavia Flight 870
I don't even know if this is the appropriate forum, but I still wish to remember India Hotel 870, an Itavia flight from Bologna BLQ to Palermo Punta Raisi PMO, which on this very day 31 year ago disappeared from the radar near Ustica island, with 81 souls on board. The aircraft that night was I-TIGI.
After 31 years, the victim's relatives still wait to know what happened. If you are not familiar with the events, you may wish to take a look at:

In fact I wish we'd see more threads focusing on air safety.
I took the liberty of editing your thread title so it was a bit more descriptive.
Pls advise if you wish it to read differently.

It's fine, thank you.
Actually, this is a case where (depending on the specific point of view you take) there's a mix of safety, security and national (and strategic/theatre) security issues.

Thanks for posting. I was just in Palermo back in April and on the drive over some folks at an Energia station near Cefalu were discussing that very crash. A mystery indeed.
