Magic Rocks and the TSA

I was checking out supplies for a laser engraver and I saw these rocks.

I had a light bulb moment, what if you engraved "Magic Anti-Terrorist Rock" on it and carried it through the checkpoint?

Would a rock that size be seized by the TSA?

Every time I hear Aquamarine my mind flashes to a melding of Aquaman and G.I. Joe.

Absolutely, then it would be used in a manner similar to their magic paper. They'd drop it into a pax's drink and if the rock sinks then he's a terrorist.

Liquid rock is still a liquid and subject to 3.4-1-1. Magma would be challenging because it would melt one's freedom baggie but likely be a solid in time for your gate inspection and secondary.

I think that would cause them to freeze up like Mudd's women in Star Trek.

So you're telling me it's ICE? Well, then I guess it is ok unless there is any "liquid glass" in it when it is cleared by the TSO...

About as effective as the TSA is at preventing terrorists.

It would *magically* appear on their top secret list as a weapon, and be confiscated.

What's all this about bringing Magic Rocks onto airplanes? Don't you need to keep the solution really, really still while the crystals are growing? The first hint of turb, and your crystal garden collapses.

If they think it looks like a replica of the fabled Goliath-killing weapon, they'll try that "voluntary surrender" claptrap.

Of course, if you put it in a fancy box with das blinkenlights and engraved M.A.T.R. on the outside, you could sell it to the TSA for the big bucks.

As much as I need the money I was never able to take advantage of fools.
