Odd/funny items confiscated at security

I'm at PHX and just watched the TSA agent escort the father of a small child to another part of the airport. The offense? The child had a tiny baby doll that had a liquid reservoir (I'm assuming to make the baby more "life-like"!). The agent and the dad went to drain the doll so that the doll could go through security one more time.

Watching the TSA agent holding this tiny doll while walking through the terminal was a pretty funny sight!

So that got me thinking. What off/funny items have you seen confiscated at security checks?

I wish you would have gotten a picture. On a good note it sounds like the TSO used the brain God gave them to fix the situation instead of just refusing the dolly.

Which in and of itself is a "man bites dog" news item.

A Chilean family once tried to wheel a dead relative through security in a wheelchair at JFK to avoid paying the fee for transporting a body.

I have a feeling that it had something to with the fact that I was at PHX. If I were at my home airport -- PHL -- I doubt that the doll would have been allowed through.

There's nothing funny about TSA theft.

A lady friend of mine was going SAN-STL to be in a wedding and to attend the bachelorette party. She just took a carry on and a computer bag. At the checkpoint, the TSA agent conficated her personal "toy". I understand it was some type of jelly, liquid filled toy and the TSA agent said no go. She says the only thing that that kept it from being the most humiliating thing ever was it was a female working. I guess there is a fear of a woman blowing up a plane with a dildo.

Was the relative named "Bernie"?

You should have gotten a picture of that. I have a friend at PHX I would have loved to have sent it to.

OK these weren't confiscated but did have a bag full of BDSM gear come through today. The passenger gratefully accepted the private screening offer too.

May I ask why a private screening was needed/offered? Was s/he selected for a random secondary or did something alarm?

It was a result of a bagcheck call from the x-ray operator. She said the items were of a "personal nature" and I offered the private screening at that point, as well as if she would prefer a female officer check the bag.
