2 carry-ons through security?

Does TSA care how many carry-on bags you bring through security, or only the airlines? My husband is meeting me at the gate and I have his roller bag as well as mine. I'd prefer to meet him at the gate (actually, the Red Carpet Club) rather than hanging around the airport lobby. Will the TSA people care that I have 2 bags (in addition to my purse)?

TSA shouldn't care; it isn't their job to count carry-ons for the airlines.

However, there are reports here at FlyerTalk of individual airports harassing passengers based on counting carry-ons. (Admittedly, these reports are a little old, but who knows ...)

I would hope that if you explained that you're meeting your husband at the gate with his carry-on, it'd be ok. But with TSA, who knows ...

(For those scoring at home ... 6, 9, 24.)

TSA will not care. The airport line management people might care. I would just explain this to them. Similar to a current United thread, you may have problems communicating in English, but you should be able to explain what you are trying to do. I have only once in MIA had a problem explaining to the line management people what was going on. I had to call a LEO to tell the line management employment to settle down. Sounds impressive but he arrived on a Segway. You lose ALL credibility arriving on a Segway.
