Another tale of woe re: MCI
Call me a sucker, but I, too, swore never to do business with these slimes again.
And then that fatal call came: a promise of 5000 AA miles just to switch back and another 1000 AA miles amonth for the next six months, as long as I stayed with MCI-- a total of 11,000 AA miles just for jumping back into bed with this unsavory mistress! My knees buckled, I relented.
A month goes by--no miles (they actually had the gaul to tell me that the initial 5000 miles would post within 3 days). Today I call MCI, and finally get on the phone with a rep. You can just see her scratching her head in the best theatric sense "Hmmm---I wonder what plan they were using? Hmmmm?" A moment of silence.
"I know there was a plan like this awhile ago, but I think it has expired. Hmmmm." I reassure that I went over the plan three times with the telemarker, who assured me this was the plan. She tells me that I am on the 1000 miles amonth for five months, but no 5000 miles bonus sign up. "Hmmmmmm"
After a few minutes of computer clacking and more "Hmmm, let's seeeee", she said "Let me call you back in five minutes, I need to find a supervisor." I said I would stay on hold, but nooooo--there was no supervisor around, and God forbid an MCI customer sat on hold for 5 minutes--unheard of! So I hung up the phone and waited....and waited...and waited. Have never heard back.
The ending to this sad saga is no surprise to any regular reader of this board. The MCI telemarketer tells you anthing to make the sale, and its up to you to do the rest. Where this ends--who knows. I will probably jump back to ATT. A word to the wise--avoid MCI offers like the plague--tell them to send them to you in writing. I really can't believe that MCI doesn't know what is going on--they just assume enough people will find it to too much hassle to follow through.
