Another AT&T Rate Increase
The not-so-nice AT&T guys are shoving it out again with a big rate increase. This affects many rate plans, most will increase in cost. An example is:
Under the old basic rate schedule, consumers paid a flat $3 a month minimum fee on top of per-minute charges that were determined based on when the call was placed. Off-peak calls, from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. Monday through Friday, cost 16 cents a minute. Peak weekday calls cost 26 cents a minute, and weekend calls cost 11 cents a minute.
Under the new rates disclosed in AT&T's filing, the company will eliminate the monthly minimum. Calls made on Sunday, which represent about 21 percent of residential volume, will be cut to 7 cents a minute. Calls made any other time will rise to 29 cents a minute.

I normally wouldn't post something like this because I don't want to seem like a 'conga' line (and it isn't because there is absolutely no referral) but also check http://www.matchup.talk.com/ They charge 7 cents per min 24 hours a day with $5.95 monthly fee BUT you get everything except the $5.95 monthly fee BACK every month in the form of a gift certificate at the retailer of your choice from their choices (such as Amazon, GiftCertificates.com). So if you shop alot and can use the gift certificates (to buy AA certificates at GiftCertificates.com for example!) you basically get all your long distance for $5.95 a month. Sorry to be off topic.
