Personal Network gone

My AT&T rep today told me that as of March 1, 2000, AT&T is no longer accepting enrollments in the Personal Network, the great plan that gave you 7 cent long distance, 10 cent calling cards, and super cheap international call-home rates.

Existing customers are grandfathered.

Well, this is bad news, but at least I'll be grandfathered. Actually, I always wanted to be a grandfather. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/rolleyes.gif AT&T PN was almost TGTBT. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif I make considerable use of some of the more obscure features. OTOH, if they dumped it entirely, I would probably transfer my cell phone to the business account that I control, and then get my home L.D. service from Bell Atlantic, since they're offering that now. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/eek.gif AT&T and other companies need to realize that when they bundle services, different customers consider different components to be the key, and if they start disassembling the bundle they may lose a customer entirely.

But I guess for now I'm safe. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

BTW, QL, do you know the original derivation of the term grandfathering?
