Couple questions NYC-Panama-Lima-Cusco

My girlfriend and I are flying to Cusco with a stopover in Panama for 2 days. We will be travelling lightly and do not plan to check any baggage. Our current flight from Panama to Lima arrives at 12:30pm local. I've booked an award ticket on LAN to Cusco at 1:30pm.

I didn't realize we would need to be processed through customs and then head to the domestic gate when I booked.

Questions:
What is a reasonable layover length to catch a flight with no checked bags?

Should I cancel the award ticket or risk missing the flight, will LAN put us on the next available plane?

If I purchase our flight from LIM-CUZ with cash and we miss our flight, will LAN put us on the next available plane? Other airlines to consider?

I've checked but figured I'd ask, are there any vaccinations concerns for entry into Peru with our visit from Panama?

...to clarify the LIM-CUZ ticket is a 1-way award ticket.

Thanks for the help, I did a search but everything references checked baggage...or I missed the answers.

Without bags gets much easier, however, 1 hour is pushing it. 1230pm is a relatively easy time for C&I at LIM, but I would still go for 2 hours--this will be more than enough from leaving the plane to being checked in to Cuz.

If you can redeposit or change without a hefty fee, go for it.

Yes, this gives you greater chances than hoping Lan staff help you out with rebooking with Avios (say, no wi-fi in check-in area). StarPeru, Peruvian, and Avianca/Taca are others to consider.

Nope, no worries on that front.

IncaTrails, thank you for the feedback. I'm going to book with $ and use the points for the return flight...there is no longer award availability to Cusco.
