Connection Time in Lima
I have an American Airlines flight that gets into Lima at 5:40 AM. Without thinking about the time too carefully I purchased an 8:00 AM flight on Star Peru to Iquitos. These two tickets were purchased separately and the airlines do not have any partnership that would allow me to check my bags through to the final destination. Star Peru allows you to check in 48 hours in advance so I could theoretically have that done in advance. With checked bags, do you think I could make this connection? If I decided to squeeze everything and go solely carry-on could I make this connection? Any advice here would be greatly appreciated.

Your Miami flight comes in just before the Madrid and Mexico flights so Immigrations should be wide open clear for you (hence quick). Of course, if your flight is late... but then maybe the other flights might be late... but then... a crapshoot. But I like your odds, if no hiccups OK even with bags. Better than OK without.
(Just a note. LIM security could care less about how much or how big you have, they just scan. So anyone running late can just take all their bags (as long as they fit through scanner opening) and then gate check.)
