Stay recommendations.

I need to pick up 1 night in Ollantay, 1 night in Aguas Caliente, 2 in Cusco, and 2 in Puno. Does anyone have any recommendations for these locations?

In Ollantay, I have currently booked El Albergue. But, I will not be taking the train to Machu Picchu and don't have to get up pre-dawn.

Hi! Before giving any recommendations, it would be very useful to know what are you looking for, something on budget, 5 star hotel or something in between...

Mid-range. Nothing more than $100/night and no sharing of bunk bed rooms (traveling withe wife).

Try the Sofitel in Cuzco. You probably won't get it for under $100 per night, but it's worth spending a bit more. Very nice place and only two blocks off the Plaza de Armas.

If you don't need to get up that early, you may evaluate other towns beyond Ollantaytambo, unless you have other reasons to stay there. I slept one night in San Agustin Urubamba, it's cheaper than San Agustin Monasterio (same owner) and very nice place. Gardens, large rooms, etc. Online reservations give you cheaper prices.

Hotel San Agustin Urubamba

Look at Casa Andina hotels for Cuzco and Puno. Good price/value ratio.

Yes, probably a bit more than $100, but a good option; it's my first choice every time I go to Cusco.

I am looking at arranging 1 night in Puno and 1 in Suasi if I can swing it. Any people familiar with the island or a particular operator?

Stay recommendations.

I think Suasi is exclusively managed by Casa Andina

Strictly from a location standpoint (I have no idea how good their rooms are):

For you: staying at el albergue is fine since its only one night.

For others: if you're staying in Olla for more than 1 night, i wouldnt stay at el albergue, it's a long walk uphill to the plaza/ruins and you'll be practically on the train tracks...which is an issue if you want to sleep early/wake up late.

For AC, just know that any hostels heading toward the hot springs are uphill. I stayed at Wirachocha which was ok, just far uphill.

Lots of choices in Cuzco, just about anything in the San Blas area will be a uphill walk from the Plaza.

notice a trend in my recommendations? yeah i hate walking uphill, lol!
