Portland, OR Restaurant Help

Hi there. A little while back People Magazine had a short article that picked 3 or 4 standout restaurants, one of which was in Portland, OR. Does anybody remember the name of the restaurant? I kept the article, but have misplaced it. Now I'm going to Portland shortly and was hoping to figure out the name of the place. Any help would be appreciated!

People Eaters

Didn't even know People had written about us. . .probably another dopey paean to Voodoo Donuts (ick).

Here's the real scoop: so many good little places in PDX, it'll make your head spin. Just post what kind of food you like, and either I or one of the other locals who post here can surely help you out.

Just to throw a few odds and ends out your way for your further research: Laurelhurst Market, Olympic Provisions, Pok Pok, Ned Ludd, Park Kitchen, Autentica, Beast, Le Pigeon, Apizza Scholls, Spints Alehouse, Tanuki, Biwa, Metrovino, Gruner, Castagna, Genoa.

I found the article - the restaurant was Clyde Common inside the Ace hotel.

If you are downtown, I really liked the Red Star for both food and service, have been there on every visit.

Latest Portland Chef Accolade + More News

Castagna chef Matthew Lightner was named one of Food & Wine mag's ten "Best New Chefs" in the US. This is a very prestigious list. Lightner is a brilliant chef and Castagna is at or near the top of our top-tier restaurants, IMO.

Article in today's daily (my byline, pls excuse the shameless self-promotion) here: http://www.oregonlive.com/dining/ind..._lightner.html

One more thing: John Gorham, the chef that opened Toro Bravo, another Portland hot spot, much loved for its Northwest-twisted tapas, has just opened a brunch joint. It's sort of like Toro Bravo with eggs. Another story that just posted: http://www.oregonlive.com/dining/ind...hn_gorham.html

I like Southpark on Salmon Street as I like seafood and wine. The late afternoon happy hour there is totally nice and relaxing.

Another good place is Bluehour in Pearl District.
