Hasn't been a particularly great era to be a Mexican airline.

Volaris and Viva Aerobus are brutal competitors with some of the lowest unit costs in the world. The major markets in Mexico are well served, options to add service to the US are limited due to category two restrictions, and with more aircraft arriving, Viva and Volaris have been moving in to smaller domestic markets where Aeromar focused. Interjet and now Aeromar have learned that lesson the hard way. It will be interesting to see how the Mexican government's plans to resurrect Mexicana go.

I personally never flew Aeromar, but as the longest running Mexican carrier it's sad to see it go. I always try to fly Aeromexico but with Volaris large presence in TIJ, its getting more convenient to fly them instead. Also, Aeromexico it's starting it new routes from MEX (CLQ, CVM, CZM,TPQ) earlier do to this.

bad news , less competition means less incentive to keep the standards and innovate . Hopefully viva or volaris wont be next , cause i dont wanna see a market monopoly/oligopoly leaded by AM

I flew them once MEX-ACA and they were good for what they provided. I think that there are some markets (like Acapulco) that are going to suffer without their service.
Aeromar was a codeshare partner with United for that route. I have not heard who United is going to try and partner with now.
The current split between AIFA and MEX is probably going to complicate matters even further for those who use Mexico City as a connection from the US - smaller Mexican destinations.
