Aeroméxico will suspend 17 international routes after the closure of borders

With the advance of the coronavirus in America, Europe and Asia, the airline will also reduce frequencies on 23 international routes, on 24 routes from Mexico City and on seven from Monterrey.

Aeroméxico will suspend 17 international routes and reduce frequencies in another 23 due to the modifications derived from the closing of borders and restrictions in some countries, together with the reduction in demand due to the coronavirus outbreak, which will also lead to reducing domestic flights by 24 routes with Mexico City, and eight with Monterrey.

In a statement published this Friday, the airline indicated that the suspension on international routes will occur on flights to Seoul (until April 7), Toronto (from March 30 to April 30), Havana (until April 7 ), Santo Domingo (until April 30), Guatemala, San Pedro Sula and San José (in all three cases until April 15), San Salvador (until April 30), Bogotá and Medellín (both until 22 April), Buenos Aires, Lima, Santiago and Quito (until April 15), Las Vegas leaving Monterrey (until April 30) and Detroit leaving from León and Querétaro, in both cases until April 30) .

As for the reduction of international flights, from this week the destinations affected are Tokyo (until May 31), Montreal (from March 23 to 29), Amsterdam, Barcelona, ​​Paris, London and Madrid (in the five cases up to on April 30) and Sao Paulo (until April 30). In the case of European destinations, a spokesperson for the airline told Expansión that so far there are no cancellations of flights to Europe.

In the United States, flights will be reduced indefinitely to Austin, Dallas, Denver, Houston, Las Vegas (leaving Mexico City), Los Angeles (leaving Mexico City, Monterrey and Guadalajara), Miami and New York (leaving Mexico City and Monterrey), Orlando, San Antonio, San Francisco and Seattle.

Regarding domestic routes, Aeroméxico will reduce two daily frequencies on its flights with Acapulco, Ciudad Juárez, Durango, Huatulco, Ixtapa, Manzanillo, Mazatlán, Mexicali, Minatitlán, Reynosa, Tampico, Tapachula and Zacatecas; at four daily frequencies with Chihuahua, Culiacán, Hermosillo, Puerto Vallarta, Torreón and Tuxtla Gutiérrez; at six daily frequencies with Mérida and Tijuana; and nine daily frequencies with Cancun, Guadalajara and Monterrey.

From Monterrey, flights with Chihuahua, Hermosillo, León and Puebla will be reduced to a daily frequency; at two daily frequencies with Guadalajara and Querétaro; at nine daily frequencies with Mexico City, and flights between Monterrey and San Luis Potosí will be suspended.

The airline recalled that priority will be given in call centers to users who have their flight in the next 72 hours, and recalled that it is implementing a flexibility policy to make flight changes. Furthermore, most changes can also be made with travel agencies.
