First class on Emirates

Hello,

I'm looking at flying Frankfurt-Dubai-Perth on Emirates in first class. Their website doesn't show what they offer. I would like to know if they offer a seat that fully reclines, give out pyama's, have a turn-down service, etc.

Anyone has any experience with them?

My experience on EK 772 and 773 aircraft is No (recline), No (pajamas), and No (special bed linens).

The First seats have nice footrests but hardly recline at all. Less comfortable for sleeping that many business class seats on other airlines.

Their real claim to fame is the in flight entertainment, which has giant screens in First and many interactive features.

I found in flight service on overnight flights much too intrusive during sleeping times. On day flights, it is fine.

I've decided to take my business elsewhere even if it means business class instead of EK first.

don't forget that due to their home base's location in the world, they hardly serve any 'sleeping' flights of 10-13 hours. Hence their focus on entertainment rather than sleeping comfort.

Well entertainment is important, but if you fly 20+ hrs some rest would be greatly appreciateed. They sent me a flyer that was clear. So I decided to take my business elsewhere.

i have flown c class and y class on EK several times now, mainly germany - dxb, and i would award EK with a "best airline marketing award"... they are constantly promoting themselves as best airline in the world which i cannot agree on (based on equipment and service). however, i.f.e. is great, makes cattle class seating a bit bearable...
dxb airport is nice though and EK offers good on-ground service and facilities.

Thanks for the info. I was today at a travel tradeshow in the Netherlands and cut a deal with some airlines. Now that the market is more competitive some are very interested in my business. I use other options now.

I just arrived in Dubai on Emirates in F on their A330. Originally i was booked on BA - but BA cancelled their flight. So with a lot of haggling and not much help from BA (they seem to be really disorganised when it comes to rebooking passengers - much better experiences on other airlines, but this is a different story).

Frankly, i was extremely disappointed. On the 330 are 18 seats, 3 rows, 2-2-2 (LH has 4 across, same as CX). The distance between rows is approx 1.60 m. The seat is small, does not recline much. The seat has about the same amount of space as the new business class seats on SQ and CX, but is less comfortable because of the recline.

The service was ok, but also not what you expect in F. They did not adress the passengers by name. Food service was on a tray, the main course came on a plate directly from the oven. The food was tasty, but not what you would expect in F (Mezze for Appetizer, a plate with litte different appetizers, small salad with dressing in a little container, 2 pieces of cheese came on the tray, then the plate was exchanged for the main course.

Overall impression: Compared to C on LH or most other airlines their F is better. Compared to C on CX or SQ i would prefer them.

I was also looking in the C cabin. The seats looked small, more like what you would expect from a premium economy product.

I am very surprised that they are getting awards.

Hmm sounds like you should get a refund from BA for the lesser service. I would complain if I were you. If you do so please let me know what happens. Sounds like a good story for an article.

Emirates discounts their first class by almost 50% and gives Mercedes/Volvo Limo service in most of the places. Their lounge in Dubai is very nice with excellent food. I wont mind flying Emirates on short flights upto 8 hours. I paid a fare of less tha $1800 return in first class from India to London compared to over $ 2200 by BA club class
