Is a 40 mins connection at Addis Ababa enough?
Hello!
I am looking at an itinerary- Nairobi (NBO) to Cairo (CAI) via Addis Ababa (ADD) by Ethiopian Airlines (ET). The transit time at ADD is just 40 minutes, which is less than the Minimum Connection Time ET has posted on their website (https://www.ethiopianairlines.com/aa...onnecting-time) for ADD for International to International - 1 hour. Can anyone please suggest if this connection is feasible?
Thanks!

About a year ago (mid June 2021) we flew JNB-ADD-ORD (yes there is a tech stop at DUB) and the ADD-JNB flight was a bit late. We made it from the arrival gate through transit security then through secondary security for the US and Canada in something like 15 minutes.

When I first started flying ET from/to North America, I agonized over the short connection options for travelling to typical tourist destinations in southern Africa (JNB, CPT, WDH, LUN, etc). I finally checked all the delayed departures/late arrivals on flights from the ET North America gateways (ORD, YYZ, NYC, IAD) and found that the vast majority of the time (for delayed departures and late arrivals at ADD), my connecting flights would have had their departures delayed enough that I would have made the connection (something like 90% of the time)..
So I book trips where I have a fairly substantial cushion from my scheduled arrival in country to the time where I have expensive (and non-refundable) activities so I can miss my connection and arrive much later/next day and still enjoy my vacation. It works out for me as I get a day to catch up on the time change and I have some free time to explore my arrival location.
