Who has flown Oman Air - Y Class?

As the title suggests, has anyone flown Oman Air in economy recently? My partner and I are due to fly with them from London to Asia next week and I am interested to hear other forum members thoughts and opinions on their service.

How did you find OLCI? Do Oman Air automatically assign you a seat or are you able to select one upon check in?

How was the IFE, Food, Muscat for Connecting?

Thanks in advance,
Adam

I love Oman Air, but there are some quirks. For one thing, if you are a single male booked in a bulkhead seat you may be asked to move back a few rows so "families" can sit together. You can do seat selection for many routes.

Otherwise, service is very good (it is a 4 star airline in economy), meals are decent, and Muscat makes for a great stopover (far more culturally interesting than DXB, DOH or BAH in my view). I'm not sure how IFE is on the Asia long hauls, but it's pretty decent on mid size flights within the Middle East.

I frequently have issues with online booking payment, but they always fix me up over the phone.

if you are flying on an A330-200 or 300 you will be fine. They are pretty good in Y by comparison. If you are transferring to a 737-800 then those flights are nothing special at all.

I have lived in MCT and it is, as previous posters have stated, a good place for a quick stopover.

If your transit time is relatively short, do not worry. You will be taken to the terminal by bus, go up the ramp and to the left and then take the stairs/escalator to the right and that will take you to the flight transfer area. This is also the area to get your visa payment waver if you are staying.

Through the usual security check and then into the waiting area. This is nothing special at all as it is a small airport. Cigarettes are cheap.

Happy landings
Spottie.
