Gulf Air FF program explained
OK I'm silver presently and I'm aspiring to Gold status this summer. I didn't exactly know how their program works for it is done on Loyalty Points. LP's are preset amounts of points given for class of fare (y or c) to different zones. Below is their chart with countries and airports served.
Gulf Air operated flights
Between cities in [GCC Tehran. and Shiraz Riyadh, Muscat, Mashad, Kuwait, Jeddah, Dubai, Doha, Dammam, Bahrain, Dhabi, Iran,Abu & States] Zone 1
35 in Economy
75 in Falcon Gold
Between [GCC Tehran. and Shiraz Riyadh, Muscat, Mashad, Kuwait, Jeddah, Dubai, Doha, Dammam, Bahrain, Dhabi, Iran,Abu & States] Zone 1 and [Other Middle East, Eastern Mediterranean & Karachi Amman, Athens, Beirut, Cairo, Alexandria, Aleppo, Damascus, Istanbul, Karachi, Khartoum, Larnaca and Sanaa] Zone 2
50 in Economy
100 in Falcon Gold
Between [GCC Tehran. and Shiraz Riyadh, Muscat, Mashad, Kuwait, Jeddah, Dubai, Doha, Dammam, Bahrain, Dhabi, Iran,Abu & States] Zone 1 and [Bangladesh, India, Nepal & North Pakistan Chennai (Madras), Dhaka, Delhi, Islamabad, Kathmandu, Kochi, Lahore, Mumbai, Peshawar and Thiruvananthapuram (Trivandrum).] Zone 3
50 in Economy
100 in Falcon Gold
Between [GCC Tehran. and Shiraz Riyadh, Muscat, Mashad, Kuwait, Jeddah, Dubai, Doha, Dammam, Bahrain, Dhabi, Iran,Abu & States] Zone 1 and [Not Applicable] Zone 4

Between [GCC Tehran. and Shiraz Riyadh, Muscat, Mashad, Kuwait, Jeddah, Dubai, Doha, Dammam, Bahrain, Dhabi, Iran,Abu & States] Zone 1 and [Europe Frankfurt, London and Paris] Zone 5
100 in Economy
250 in Falcon Gold
Between [GCC Tehran. and Shiraz Riyadh, Muscat, Mashad, Kuwait, Jeddah, Dubai, Doha, Dammam, Bahrain, Dhabi, Iran,Abu & States] Zone 1 and [Far East Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur and Manila] Zone 6
100 in Economy
250 in Falcon Gold
Now they have 3 levels (blue, silver, gold) Blue is general thus here is silver and gold qualifications.
To qualify initially for Silver membership, you will need 1,000 loyalty points. If you want to retain your membership for subsequent years you will need only 700 per annum.
To qualify initially for Gold membership you will need 2,500 loyalty points. If you want to retain your membership for subsequent years you will need only 1,750 each year.
Now the trick, that is not stated anywhere, is how long is status good for? Well the CSR told me as a silver you lose 150 loyalty points every 6 months if you don't add to your total. As a gold you lose 150 lp's every 3 months if you don't fly. Thus you have to maintain I believe a balance of lp's for your level or you drop.
Once you attain silver you need to maintain 700 I think to keep it.
Once you attain gold you need 1750 I think to keep it.
Thus your status can last for several years without even flying.
Anyone have anything else to add or see any problems?

I see a whole stupidly complicated program....I mean who sat down and thought about that?
not not just make like all the regular gulf-based airlines , GCC or Tehran Zone 1 should be around 500 miles per trip. You've miles and flight sector to upgrade yourself to silver and gold. Till now, I think GF FFP is truly confusing and should be revamped to be user-friendly.

I sat down and thought about their whole status upgrading thing and thought it was one of the most unusual practices for miles crediting. I mean most of the GCC airlines (except Qatar Airways and GF) even if the distance is less than 500 miles (Kuwait to bahrain is 262 miles I think), they would still credit you with the minimum of 500 miles. As for GF, having such different business and economy classes such as promo/restricted/flex, the credit varies and isn't not consistent! I mean it says 25% to 50% of the trip, Ok, so how much truly am I getting? how can I challenge that if there's any mistake in it if I don't know the accurate crediting percentage you're using? I think with the new privatization of GF, things would change around a bit, I hope! I don't really like this crediting system and hope they stick to the regular sector/miles genre.

Once you have reached 10 000 tier points in a 5 year peiod you are awarded Gold For Life....you need to take 2 flights a year to maintain(any sectors). I have argued with thenm its not Gold 'for life' as one still needs to requalify by taking 2 flights. They agreed the wording was confusing but promised they would review it. I suggested that while they require the 2 flights per year to maintain they should rename the highest tier 'platinum' or 'falcon Gold' or something to differentiate from Gold. I also suggested dropping the 2 flights per year requirement!
I'll let you know if I hear anything-most likely not

I used to fly with GF and accumulated a good amount of miles but since I started using Qatar/Etihad few years back I'm stuck with these miles and don't even know how to spend'em, plus their program doesn't encourage me to come back.

a while ago, they had this offer where you can use 50% of your miles to get a ticket with them! otherwise, redeeming them or transferring them is not possible I believe.
