I have about 50k points in my account, if I stay once a year will my points still be safe?

"La Quinta Returns Points never expire as long as your account remains active by earning or redeeming points at least once every 18 months."

That is the text from their website.

There are not too many LQ-related threads here on FT.

I have a one-night stay at a LQ property in Houston in January. I must stay at this property as it is at the 14 mile-marker on the Houston Marathon route.

I've made a paid ($59) reservation on LQ's site. Of course, I entered my Returns number.

Are there any current rewards promos I shall be aware of? Like add UA MP, WN RR, DL SM, etc?

(And, yes, I did a search)

Thanks!
