Last year I stayed 69 nights using Hotels.com. During that time their loyalty program entitled you to a free night, up to $400 in value, after you stayed 10 paid nights.
So I go to book one of my free nights and now they tell me that it is no longer $400 max value, but the max value is now an average of the 10 paid nights. This reduces the value of my free nights to about $120.
Yes, I got an email from Hotels.com about a month and a half before the changes were to go into effect. So I looked at the terms and conditions and it said that any nights that you earned prior to the change date would still be at the $400 max value, so I didnt think much about it. So I go to book a free night and now I only get a $120 credit and not the $400. I call them up, on their so called elite line, and was told that there is nothing they can do for me.
I am so pissed off at these people. I have been saving these free nights for a big trip this year with my wife and kids and now they are practically worthless.
I am wondering if anyone else has had the same issue with Hotels.com and if they were able to get them to honor the $400 max value.
I am thinking of taking them to court but I would like to get some feedback from so fellow FTers first.
