Unless I am mistaken, this is the first transatlantic service from PHX other than BA PHX-LHR. Exciting news.

Right! They tried and it didn't workout so well. They puled out of PHX completely.

Condor Airlines to begin nonstop FRA-PHX next year

Wish it was a different airline, but as we have precious few long haul options out of PHX it's welcome.

DE cancelled all their scheduled longhaul ex MUC starting Summer 2018, so now their focus is on new routes ex FRA.

Assuming that they can actually take off, of course!

(Should be OK at that time of night, but maybe the earlier flight is at risk if this happens again!)

In general the hot weather restrictions only apply to smaller aircraft. RJs for example.
Nothing to worry about.

This is such welcome news. We can now continue on to FRA nonstop after we visit our
daughter in Phoenix and connections from FRA are operated by LH. Service cannot be worse than UA, we save ourselves the hassle of connecting at EWR or the weather problems at SFO and IAH. Plus it's impossible on UA awards to score domestic legs in C, so a C award goes coach to the hub and only then biz. Sure, no lie flats, but biz at less than half price? Hard to beat. And from Europe a nonstop saves the extra TSA treatment at the connecting point. Also one can use the LH lounges at FRA and credit miles to AS.

For May 2018 I saw less than $ 430.00 in Y , 550 in PE and about 1,400 in C for a one way, which is what I am looking for.
